Say there's a house fire. It's easier to pick up the burnt debris than it is to fight the fire, but it's better to do it whole there's still something to save.

Tell that to Kyle Rittenhouse. Literally out on the streets trying to prevent a mob of frenzied savages from setting a building on fire. He gets chased by the mob, shot at, and then he shoots 3 people who attack him while he's trying to flee after putting out a fire.
He's been charged with fucking MURDER. That's what being a good Samaritan gets you in Clown World- prison time. Seeing this is demoralizing. All the other men who may have been considering trying to intervene in the destruction of their towns/cities will now know that "If I intervene, even if I'm obviously innocent, I will be arrested for trying to stop the mob while the police look on." This takes the wind out of our sails.
Why should I risk my life trying to protect a city when that city's paid protectors (the police) will arrest me, out putting fires out literally trying to stop a frenzied mob, and they'll throw me into jail faster than they will arrest a Tyrone running out of a burning Target with a stolen TV? I know nobody's going to come help me. A cop just got fired for donating to Rittenhouse's legal fund. Why should I risk my neck if none of you others are willing to?
I don't care what being a good Samaritin gets me. If I die fighting the evil inflicted on this country, I will die happy. Obviously I care about whether or not it would be successful, but I don't care what reward I get in this life or the next. To spit in the face of tyranny is its own reward.
Truth is, regardless if I fight or not, I WILL be made out to be a monster, eventually, for the virtue of being an individualistic cis white 'goy'. If seeing children in drag still makes you cringe, eventually you will be separated and culled. It doesn't matter what your politics are, if you aren't a zombie and could put together 2+2 without having to memorize the answer, they will come for you.
I'm talking generally, of course. Despite my fire and brimstone speech, I encourage you to do what you believe is right, and that's the most anybody could ask. In my view, though, I don't see another ethical option but to fight. Moving away doesn't work. Any form of negotiating or politicking doesn't work. Fighting the information war while the economy of scale favors the nepotistic rich doesn't work. Attempting to raise a generation that is more able to fight, doesn't work. I guess what I would ask is what would be the alternative?
You are already considered a monster. You are already slated for removal. Your stuff is not yours anymore.
The question becomes "what is your fallback?"
