Yeah. Me. I kept up with it in January and saw the people vomiting blood and trucks full of body bags, and people being bolted into their houses, and huge trucks spraying unknown chemicals into the air and a literal cyberpunk dystopia occurring in China.
Then there were reports that ~4% of people infected would die, and that if it got to the point where you needed a ventilator >80% would die (later we'd find out that the ventilators themselves were killing people) and that you could transmit it asymptomatically and continue to transmit it for 14 days before symptoms and die within 3 days of symptoms. I prepped hard fucking core: In January I bought some bug out land, stocked up on food, ammo, meds, got a new off-road capable vehicle, body armor, N-95's, p-100 respirators and gas masks (before they went crazy expensive). I put my money where my mouth was.
By the time of the reports out of italy that they couldn't burn all the bodies because there were so many dead I I was sure it would be just a few weeks until all hell broke loose. But then it didnt and I was really confused because (at the time) no one was wearing masks and ~a month after I had prepped for 2 years people all got the message the same day and swarmed the super markets without masks, or with bullshit cloth or medical masks that i knew wouldn't work. I remember thinking "those poor fools, 4% of them will be dead within the month" But then that didn't happen. Then I knew that what was reported about the virus must be wildly incorrect as the obituaries weren't increasing, and no one I knew died, so by ~April last year I felt like a pretty big idiot.
On the flip side, there really are potentially killer pathogens. If the world went this fucking crazy for a bad flu, imagine the kind of civil break down we'd have for a real event. It would be like Louisiana during Katrina where militias just shot anyone who didn't look like they belonged in the neighborhood (read blacks). So it would have been cheaper if I had prepped slowly, waiting for good deals instead of all at once, (for most things, still super happy I got ammo before the squeeze).
A few of my very close friends were similarly worried and changed their minds in line with me for the same reasons. Logical people are out there, you just have to find them.
Seconded.
January/February 2020 I was prepping for a collapse of civilisation. Then the reality was a fart in a hurricane but everyone else was pretending there was a collapse. Now I'm prepping for the ongoing commie takeover.
but everyone else was pretending there was a collapse.
That was the strangest part, as alluded to, most people didn't change their mind.
They did though. They went from "lol, look at those conspiracy theorists saying there's a deadly plague in china, what xenophobes" to "OMG we're all dying, there's millions dead worldwide, #stayhomesavelives #holdfast"
They literally believe whatever they're told, evidence notwithstanding.
Viruses don’t exist. Look up Terrain theory. You can’t catch a virus
People keep saying that then don't reply when i ask about getting herpes or hepatitis
Cuz they're full of shit
kek. Yeah. Some people get tired of so many things accepted as truth being lies, that they think everything is a lie.
I'd love to learn more about terrain theory. Can you provide some links?
Have any articles to recommend?
This sounds pretty similar to my experience. To everyone's experience probably. I kept on waiting for all the mass-death i was promised. You can imagine my disappointment.
I do recall thinking that if this virus got to india and more importantly africa, they wouldn't take/understand any of the precautions, and how wonderful it would be for the future if there was a drastically smaller population of s.s. africans.
Same, I was warning my family in Jan to stock up on supplies and avoid high risk situations.
Then there was the scare around Italy I stayed home for a month. I never wore a mask tho, since I don't have a P95+it's pointless.
Then after a while it was clear that if there was a real virus it had mutated into nothing. This was probably June.
Since then I've been waiting for the joke to be over.
since I don't have a P95+it's pointless.
Amazing how many people don't understand this. "I'm installing a chain link fence to keep out mosquitoes!"
I'd say you weren't just aware and discerning, but also dutiful and diligent about your safety. There's nothing to feel like an idiot about. I myself tried to give presentations to the normies in my workplace, based on what information I had gathered until February. Virtually no-one came or had any interest, just my boss.
During the first lock-down in March/April '20, my pattern recognition finally kicked, because the inconsistencies and unlikelihoods in the official coverage just mounted up. I'd say I am more of a fool than you, because I did not prep beyond hoarding some food. I wish I had gotten land back then. Still could, but where I life that won't guarantee you peace and quiet.
Do it (getting land) It's not very big and it's out in bumfuck, but If my wife and I needed to leave our home, we'd have a stocked alternative.
You're making me appreciate the expertise China demonstrated on the psyop. They played it perfectly to get everyone at the exact same level of manufactured fear for lockdown day. It ended the trade war and allowed them to steal the election through mail fraud. China's GDP grew in 2020 while the world went into recession. They jewed the whole world.
