I honestly let my wife do most of it. Funny shit aside she's more right wing and survivalist then I've ever been. What I can tell you is we've banked enough to maintain our current lifestyle for three years. We're also weird enough to have food stores and ammunition though. We'll be alright.
I plan for years out, I also frequently adjust the plans as needed.
I plan less than I should. I'm working on it though
I’m planning to start making a long term plan soon
It varies. Budgeting, four weeks
General saving, short to long term
Family History I plan centuries ahead. When putting birth records into the family tree program, I include planet of birth. Not only that, I'm archiving info, pictures and videos for generations over the next few centuries and beyond to be able to see
I'd include galaxy and dimensional information, too. Star maps would also be helpful.
I have enough store bought beer to last about 4 days. Then, I have a batch of ginger beer that will be ready in about a week, an IPA that will be ready to be bottled next week, and an oatmeal stout that will be ready to be bottled in about 2 weeks. Plus, I have a batch of cherry wine that has been aging for 6 months and a few bottles of plum wine that have aged for about 4 months.
Overall, I am probably set for the next 6 weeks with beer, and I can supplement with wine if I need to. So I have planned ahead for at least a month. Maybe a bit longer.
I have long term financial plan 4 to 5 years. Other than that I have more of a routine that works for me more so than a plan.
I do make plans for when I can go on backpacking/hiking trips.
1 plain isn't enough. You need to set goal then make realistic plans that best help you achieve those goals
No clue how other folks do it, but I usually plan out three to six month blocks broken down into six week intervals. As for years ahead, I set goals/objectives I want to achieve and work towards them regularly within those three/six month blocks.
I make plans and then get drunk for long periods and move to day to day.
I do this alot with weed instead of bewz.
I'm an anti-plan, anti-goal type guy and it's served me well. It allows me the flexibility to follow what I see as the correct choice as it comes up. The only place I deviated from this was financially. There, a wise old man many, many years ago convinced me of the value of establishing a good retirement plan.
In my case it was investing a portion of my paycheck into a 401k. Smartest thing I ever did and I'd encourage everyone to look ahead and plan for retirement, no matter how young you may be. You guys are gonna live a whole lot more years than I ever will, that's a given. You can't count on things like Social Security and government programs, so invest in yourselves over the years ahead. Increase your contributions to said account as your salary grows. Don't pull that money out for a glitzy new TV or car, it's for your future and that of your family. In the end you'll be happy you saved. And you'd also be surprised how even a tiny sum of money put aside today grows exponentially over time. Just do it!
