Had a pedigree GSD, best friend I ever had and the smartest dog I ever owned. Not a dog whisperer but am pretty good at training dogs. I like larger breeds, unfortunately they tend to have shorter life spans. So far I've been leaning towards either a Caucasian or Anatolian shepherd. Anyone have any experience with either of the breeds? Other large breeds with a longer life span that I may not be aware of? Price isn't an issue. I am partial to shepherds.

You know how playing a game on hard is more fun than running through on easy? A belgian malinois is a dog set to Expert and they live 15 years.

I get it, my gsd lived to be 11, he understood commands in 2 languages, all play around/show off commands were in english, all critical commands in russian. I'm not looking for a pet, I'm looking for a worthy companion/best friend and an asset in a SHTF scenario. They seem similar in character to gsds but with a longer life span.
