Fruits allow a flowering plant to reproduce. A fruit is formed from the ovary that exists within the flower and houses the seeds that will eventually grow into new plants.Vegetable is reserved for other parts of a plant, such as the leaves, stems, or roots.

Cucumbers grow from flowers and contain dozens of seeds that may be used to cultivate future generations of cucumber plants. This basic function is what makes them fruits, not vegetables.

There are botanical and culinary definitions for fruits and vegetables, some things like tomatoes and cucumbers are both a botanical fruit and a culinary vegetable.

A proper dill pickle is heaven in a jar. Who cares if it's a vegetable.

theres a great variety of pickled veggies.

veggies are healthy for two things mostly:

fiber

and

potassium

you get both when you eat pickles, but if you eat so many pickles as you would need to satisfy your needs in potassium and fibre, you would have eaten WAAAAYYYY too much Salt.

so although pickles may count as vegetable, they are not a replacement for eating vegetables.

It's a cucumber. Of course. It's how people used to get their veggies during the long winter: pickle them.

(from a post-abundance perspective).

People as a whole definitely need to relearn canning/pickling/fermenting, many will be forced to. I have family in northern Maine and they ALL make pickles, jellies, mustards, etc. every fall that they eat throughout the winter, and these are not off grid types., but they just know how to do it like we know how to go to the store and buy pickles.

It's a cucumber so yes.

If anchovies on pizza count as fish, pickles can count as a vegetable.

It's a fruit. Technically, all fruits are vegetables, because vegetable is just "plant matter".

So... Yes.
