A neighbor has a giant old rotten blue tarp in their junkpile. I mean giant, the heap is about 3 ft tall. Some of the nests around here are stuffed with blue ribbons from it. I mentioned to this neighbor a couple years ago that this particular pile of shit was attracting packrats and that birds were spreading it around, but he did not take the hint.
