Thankfully I don't have to mess with Daylight Savings but I do occasionally figure out the time zone differences because I have friends all over.
The way I remember(could be wrong) learning was that it was made for farmers so they could know what hours they could do their business before it gets too dark.
For anyone else it's pretty useless.

It's useless for farmers as well. They schedule their day around the daylight, not a clock.
