wine especially causes "the ills."
Could be a sensitivity to the sulfurs involved in wine. We tend to get more susceptible to them as we age as well. A nice, clean vodka(they can be cheap too!) might give you a better drink. Mix with flavored mineral water or other non-sugar based additive. Drink a quart of water before bed.
Even so much as two glasses of wine gives me a headache before the night is even done. Organic wine, however, I seem to do ok with that.
From .
Organic wines from the US must not add sulfites, which in most scenarios greatly reduces a wine’s shelf life and, in some cases, can substantially change the flavor
So it looks like it's the sulfites messing with you. The same site also says European organic wines are allowed sulfite additives. You could also be sensitive to additives in other alcohols as well. Which is why I mentioned trying a pure vodka with something simple like mineral water.
I like a good vodka.
this summer i want to make an organic fruit wine of some sort.

i am a big fan of bavarian beer, a hefeweizen and enjoy the heck out of a couple/few brews from maui brewing company--coconut hiwa/imperial coconut porter, pineapple wheat, and freight train. love samuel smith's beers too.
but yes, now that i am older, moderation is key ;-) i just love sitting around a fire pit either in the back here or camping and shooting the shit while drinking a few brews.
