my wife is a pharmacist with a fuckton of work background working for Tamilflu (basically, somewhat more knowledgeable about viruses than your average joe schmoe). The J&J was developed using the same process as the normal flu shot, uses egg proteins ~ the downside is that it takes longer. They also wanted a 1-shot option and developed around the most recent strain (which was the 3rd "official" in South Africa)... the catch is that they're later to market. It's a much older, Massively vetted, process that's not going to harm anyone (so long as you don't have an egg allergy)
Anyway, my wife has a history of anaphylaxis (i.e. 106deg fever, heart failure, etc..) from some injectables and has flat out refused the vax. She's comfortable enough with taking the J&J if it comes down to that, but is attempting to just skip it if at all possible. Hard position to be in as a medical personal, thankfully her employer isn't requiring (couldn't hardly get 1/3rd of the hospital staff to voluntarily take it when offered, lol).
