First, with all modern wars, you must realize that there are Jewish financiers looking to profit from both sides.
Besides that universal truth, also:
1) There was a lot of opium making its way back to the states. Feel free to look into the US getting caught selling drugs to its own people to fund black ops off the books. Now think about how much it must have happened that we never caught them on.
2) Even though the USSR was started and initially run by Jews, Stalin solidified his power by purging a lot of the Jewish community. By the time we hit the Vietnam war, you wouldn't say that the USSR was openly anti-Jew, but the Jews' influence in America was quickly rising while it was falling among the Soviets. International Jewry would have much rather seen an American hegemony at that point, so we had to have constant proxy wars to counter their influence, which was one thing happening in Vietnam.
3) The military industrial complex had long been a thing by that point. The "defense contractor" corporations that buy out politicians would love a never-ending war, because never ending tax dollars go right into their pockets. The military leadership loves a never-ending war, because they can fund an ever-growing arsenal with ever-growing global control (not to mention paychecks). Politicians love never-ending wars, because they can get the support of the previous two powerful groups, plus they can sell themselves as "fighting America's enemies" or "ending this terrible war" for votes... but then they don't have to do anything, and all it costs them is other peoples' money.
4) Although this is just speculation, the trend over the last century seems to increasingly be to destroy the type of white men who would protect their nations in various ways. A lot of them died in that shitshow, and the rules of engagement for that war made it seem as though that was a desired outcome.

There were actually many Americans of the WW2 generation who saw the communist "liberation" of a large part of Europe, then North Korea, who were genuinely concerned that the intent of the Soviets and Chi-coms was to conquer a large part of the world. The commies bragged that they intended to do so. We entered VietNam with the belief that it was simply a case of commie expansion and that we must send the message that we would not stand idle. There were real concerns that Latin America would begin to go the way of Cuba if the commies were given a pass when they attempted to promote revolutions in small countries. In VietNam it was way more complex with the South representing a colonial elite who oppressed peasants and the North promising them a better life. Stupid blindness on the part of the US.
