Meh. I'm guilty of being a bit vague when asked. I give a generic answer. My work is not typical, so it's easier than trying to explain.

I assume you don't want to hear (nor do I want to give) a long winded answer. (And, usually, I'm right.) If you ask follow-up questions and we are having a genuine conversation over dinner or drinks or whatnot, then I'm happy to expound on the topic.

If you take pride in your work, labor to the best of your ability you are a company asset.

So, whaddaya do for a living, fren?

[–] 1 pt (edited )

ah, yes - although my duties change from time to time, the last meeting I had with my colleagues online (such strange times!) gave me more leeway to supervise my own work output - that is to say, I shan’t be bothered by redundant inquiries on a daily basis. this, of course, relates to the major processing industries in which most products AND services pass through. far be it from me to discuss the details of such matters which, by all accounts, you clearly understand without the need of my fatherly guidance. ha ha! ah!

So, fren, have you received your stimulus package from the current political administration? I think mine got lost in the postage relay.

I never applied fo no stimulus, cuz I ain't no nigger

Sorry my dude. My mom warned me not to talk to internet strangers. (Fairly specialized - if I answered honestly, a Linkedin search could potentially dox me.)

When people ask me what I do for a living, I tell them "I'm an independent contractor."

Then some of them blink at me, and say, "What's that?"

I lean close to them and whisper, "I kill people for money."

They always assume I'm joking, so it works out fine.

I've always wanted to pretend i was an architect

[–] 0 pt

Yes, it is. If you're asking someone for information about themselves you should be prepared to share the same.

not really, i kinda do because i dont do just one thing. it is hard to say directly

plus if you are out and about, people dont want to think about work

a better question would be, what do you like to while not working

it triggers there thinking into something that isnt their daily grind, i can it real life trolling

Oh man, when someone does that you really got to be careful. Just in case they have a buddy that's sneaking up behind you. Sometimes a person will ask, "What do you like to while not working?" just to get your attention and then their friend will jump on your back, wrap their arms around your neck and try to "Choke" you. Now, i put that in quotations because its not actually a choke. Your see, if its a choke, then the airway is blocked. That, and only that, is what a choke is.

Contractor here...I worked the last 3 months for a couple, he is a doctor. She mentioned she just lost her job. There is a dressmaker's dummy in one of the rooms, and I asked 'are you a seamstress?' She said no, then changed the subject. I still have no idea what her job was. Any ideas, autists?

Costume designer.

But she acted all embarrassed, people usually are eager to brag or bitch about their jobs...maybe S+M costumes?

She was probably an Anus-Expander.
