Swore off plumbing when I saw guys cutting out old shit pipe over head in a hospital with a sawzall. Pipefitting is a much cleaner trade and pays just as well if not more. Now I work at an electrical outfit and that's really the bees knees.
That's drainage, the shitty part of plumbing. Most of my work is replacing valves, pipe, hot water tanks and other fixtures.
Still part of the job. Fucking shitty
Look around in your area, you will see companies that specialise in drainage, companies that specialise in new construction, residential or commercial service etc. Plumber is a general term, much like engineer or doctor. You specialise in what you're good in and enjoy. Yes, some people like drainage.
Do you charge more for drainage?
I don't do it. I have a couple of companies to recommend based on value and customer service. Drainage is usually new, green guys or guys who are not the best troubleshooters. Although you still have to have a clue when it comes to larger, more complicated buildings.
