The nickname "Chairforce" exists for a reason. Most of the force is data analysts and such.
I sat in 5 different chairs(bases) all data gathering/analysis missions.

Most of the enlisted men when I was in the Air Force either watched the toys, cleaned the toys, repaired the toys, and/or completed paperwork.
AF does in fact have ground troops. Some are highly specialized for target acquisition and threat assessment. Meaning, some are embedded with army or marines as a force multiplier with ground troops for ground coordination with aircrews.
In general, AF does intelligence (signals and photography), logistics, and so on. But yes, they do have troops for base defense and general odds and ends. Though frequently army or marines are stationed for base defense.
As for your comment, please educate me as to the context.
