Fair enough mate, though I'm much more confident of my ability to process information that contradicts my currently held belief system and see if it has merit. These christian brethren of mine don't seem to be able to see beyond their normal operating boundaries of beliefs.

Well, with respect to your statements, I'm only referencing my Christian brethren inside a chat group on telegram and not all my Christian brethren. I may not have made that clear in this post but the last post did mention that fact. Apologies for the misunderstanding.

I don't for a moment think I'm better able to process 'hidden truths' than every other Christian, for in fact, many Christians have helped me to be where I am standing right now. And I'm sure there's still a ways to go for me in the journey of life.

I also mentioned merit and not 'proofs' as to why some ideas might be more convincing than others. I am willing to accept more 'outlandish' claims if I think they have merit or explanatory power even if the claim itself is fantastic. As Sherlock said: "How often have I said to you that when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth?"

At the end of the day I don't think it's about individual truths or proofs but rather a willingness to engage reality for it really is, or perhaps for what it might actually be despite our inclinations or predilections to believe otherwise.
