If you aren't logged in or have an account with default settings, when you go to [poal.co/](https://poal.co/), you ONLY get articles from the default subs. If you instead go to [poal.co/all](https://poal.co/all), you get all the "Hot" articles from *every* sub. Try it yourself -- use a private window and open up each in a separate tab and compare the two. That means there's a whole side of Poal hidden from these users unless they know to change the defaults. The thing is, there's so many default subs that you might not even know your view is limited.
To put this in a Reddit perspective during the rise of Trump, it's like not having TheDonald on the front page, even though the posts there were wildly popular, because TheDonald wouldn't have been a default sub. But not even Reddit did that, they just artificially manipulated the numbers so it wouldn't show up.
As an aside/tip, if you go to the house icon, which just links to to poal.co/ as described above, and you want to reserve that for only a few subs to keep track of, you have to unsubscribe from all the default subs you are automatically subscribed to, and then subscribe to the subs you want. Also, you can block Qtard subs so you don't see them in /all.
