I can tell you that it was a war between factions of the royal family. The main cause of the war was Henry V marrying into the french line, which passed on severe mental disorders to Henry VI. Henry VI was basically totally incompetent and would actually go catatonic for long periods, years some times. This ended up causing a divide between the house of york (henry's cousin) and Henrys wife, a basic power struggle, where both probably believed they were acting for the benefit of the kingdom but in reality, they just pissed each other off with real or perceived insults till war broke out. the war had many phases and each side had "won" at various different times. In the end, they basically killed off most of the royal line with a decent claim leaving henry tudor (henry VII), a distant relation as king (after his army killed Richard III in battle). Ofc Henry VII was a fuckin weirdo and basically implemented a police state.

How your friends were involved, idk about that or if they were, though I'm sure those armies needed financing, as suits of armor and halberds were expensive.

Oh yeah...

Well, that's the one that ended with the clear winner making a fatal misstep and getting stuck in the mud.

Not much you can do about that. The bad guys won.

im reading that no legitimate heirs survived between the multiple factions.
