You have to create the flair ahead of time. Then, inside any post in your sub, there's a flair button at the bottom.

I found the button, just not how to make the flair.
edit: found it in the sub sidebar, thanks

You can also flair your posts in subs that have predefined flairs and have the "Allow users to flair their own posts" enabled.
