Emp fantasies are nonsense. It would be more appropriate and useful to plan around someone destroying power infrastructure
I too find it incredibly unlikely that an EMP big enough would ever occur. It's not really worth worrying about. As you say, an attack on our infrastructure would be much easier and very effective. But the thread asked a specific question about an EMP so I answered as such.
Not a high probability but possible.
Having dealt with the recent Texas mass outage, I can say that this would bring the end. Things grind to a halt without power.
If you have any on the ground lessons learned from Texas, I'm all ears. As far as contingency planning goes
Here in Texas, it was having water and if your lucky propane that got people through. Arctic cold for 3 of the 7 days meant buying untreated lumber and burning it in the fireplace.
Purchase 5 gallon drums to fill with water. Having things to barter with. Sleeping bags are pretty cheap these days stock up. Stock up on Pasta and Rice.
