I get it. Why does it work over and over? Music has an ability that not much else does. Even happy or poppy music can be absorbed countless times but the music with sad or depressing notes and topics are the ones that really hit home and last for our lives. Its special.

Depressive music syncs in Harmony/frequency of your mood and that's why it feels good.

All music has a frequency and harmony and will make you feel a certain way. Depresion is a stronger emotion and that's why you notice that harmony and frequency more.

It doesn't make me feel better. It just adds to the sadness. Get really bummed out and then listen to Everyday is like Sunday and tell me if you feel better.

It allows for the organization of thoughts and emotions that are chaotic and allows for parallel processing in the subconscious mind, relieving the conscious mind of the burden, somewhat.

it masks what you are feeling, and make you feel not alone

i have depression, like bad... pm if you ever need to talk... it sucks man

Haha. I'm not depressed. No more than normal, anyway. It is just something I am attracted to I guess. But thanks. I'll probably pm you but please know that I don't need saving. I'm happy as a clam even if it doesn't show.

Minor pentatonic scales are easy to make sound "pleasant".

Major scales aren't and typically sound like Do Ra Me, etc.

Yeah, takes me back to watching The Doors movie as a kid.

Not that majors and other scales can't sound good, but it seems like nobody who isn't a musician likes them.

who the fuck said depressing music makes you feel better

[–] 1 pt

I did. You can't think of a song that is mostly of a depressing nature that makes you feel better?

[–] 2 pts

I guess it depends on the setting, and the mood of the listeners.

I am a musician and I write songs and almost all of the songs that I write are upbeat and happy cause I like my songs to be for partying to
