Ok thank you that makes sense.

Kind of makes me uneasy about how the site is built tbh but it’s a reasonable enough development hack.There’s always lots of stuff to fix and never enough time and resource consumption issues like that can be tricky to solve.

Naw, not really. The kinds of technologies that would make scaling a site like this easier aren't easy to implement, graph db's for your use case. I don't know for certain but I'm pretty sure all the data is dumped into a plain old RDBMS which eat cpu cycles like crazy. Contrast this site to Voat, however, which was fucking built terribly. Anyway, have an upvoat and see you at 10.

I’d have to dig into it to agree but IMO problems like these are rarely that impossible to solve unless you rely too heavily on frameworks. But I’m not gonna dig in so I’ll accept that.
