I know. But they can make the job such hell that the good people leave on their own.

That is very true, sure they may not fire you, but career ostracization can make anyone go insane.

I learned the trick was to seek out small companies (<100 employees) owned by whites.

My best gigs, in which I enjoyed the job and the company of my co-workers, were always small companies.
