I have three issues with websites which constantly aggravate me:

  1. Autoplay videos. I'm scrolling along, reading text, then suddenly get blasted by the audio from a video that has auto-started. Then I have to scramble to find the offending video. Along the same line, I hate "floating videos" which follow you down the right side as you scroll.

  2. Cookie notices. An example is on the KSL website, where a cookie notice obscures the bottom 20 percent of the display. I know cookie notices are in response to GDPR regulations from the EUSSR, but they're still a pain in the ass.

  3. Popups asking you to subscribe or agree to push notifications. They wipe out the display and force you to respond. Besides, if I'm visiting a website for the first time. how do I know if I want to subscribe or not? Along the same lines, popups asking me to disable my adblocker piss me off. Display more responsible ads that don't disrupt my websurfing, and I won't need an adblocker.

So what are your pet peeves?

That people are allowed to use it without an IQ test

I remember when how-to-use-the-internet was the IQ test. Good times back then.

At least we know, according to Xiden, that it's not Blacks and Hispanics.

The consolidation of what were once dozens of search engines and start page companies. The variety of uncensored sites that only still exist now if you bookmarked them 10+ years ago.

  • 3rd party.

  • Google re-routes

  • PRISM and the X Eyes

  • "Reminders"

  • Register to access

  • Sell-outs

Most aggravating problem is Officials requiring access to basic necessities by forcing citizens to perform duties and the like through the internet. Education, Money, communications, billing and registry.

You didn't need - and rather avoided - the internet to stay alive and in touch back when.

Those days are close to ending.

Personally, I never talk to friends or family through the internet on pure principle.

Those who do this, I can no longer have a normal conversation with. It's contagious - and not in a good way. The Facebookers are of a particular essence I've grown allergic to.

Yeah, register to access is a pain in the ass.

That it gives the weak the false perception they are strong.

How long it takes for webpages to load. We “supposedly” went to the moon but I only get 2.1 mbps download speed on this effing phone, and with the power out in Texas, it’s 418kbps.

Yes, and this can be particularly a problem with images.
