Oh! I had covid and it was absolutely awful. My ass swelled up, just full of shit. Not the normal shit either! It had boils! In the shit! Oh God it was horrendous! I couldnt smell my swollen ass filled with boil shit, so I had no clue! I order a taxie, I'm leaking like crazy while i wait to get picket up from the Biden rec center, where we smell "of age adults" and learn fuzzy math. Anyways, the cabbie takes one look at me, keeps on driving. I'm about to call out to him, but then I start coughing like crazy! Coughing harder then hunter Biden hitting a crack pipe! I guess it was the glossy lung that I had! So there i am, on the corner of MLK boulevard and 5th, hacking up glossy lung chunks with my swollen ass and its shit boils, a fine young diversity youth asks if I'm doing ok, because he noticed that my toes were curled up something fierce! That's when I knew I had it, because I couldn't smell the guy even though my nose was inches away from his wooly hair! I checked into a holiday inn and lived on pillow mints for 6 years! God I hope I don't relapse, my rabbi would kill me!

I'm pretty sure I've had corona. My wife and I both had a high fever for about 24 hours and then 1-2 more days of feeling a bit off while we recovered. Never got tested because a) who gives a fuck and b) in the country we're currently in, corona means mandatory hospitalization.
The funny thing was that a week or so later, my wife was cooking bacon and eggs, our normal Sunday morning breakfast. I was sitting in the kitchen a couple of meters away from the stove and I realized I couldn't smell the bacon at all. I didn't say anything but that's how I know it was the rona. Sense of smell is about 90% back to normal, several months later.
So just a regular cold/flu?
For us it was better than a cold. Completely incapacitating for 24 hours, but then basically nothing.
But corona is real through, for sure. There's no other disease that cleaves your smell receptors like that. I also have two close friends doing post grad at Oxford who actually worked on the Astra-Zeneca vaccine. It's real.
But, corona clearly only seriously affects a tiny proportion of the population with preexisting conditions. It's totally unclear to me whether lockdowns etc are actually cost effective. If you're fit and healthy, corona ain't shit.

Yeah. My favorite was when spring rolled around and they made a list of extremely common seasonal allergy symptoms and titled it "signs you're gonna die from covid-19". Hilarity ensued.
