I saw a video where a guy took a 12ft sail boat from California to Hawaii alone. I was hooked.
I love the idea of being alone, but I dont swim that good.
Many sailors cannot swim well, including me. Back in the old days of clipper ships, most sailors could not swim, and didn't want to learn, because sinking was a very real possibility, and they didn't wanna prolong death.
What a loon.
A guy sailed from somewhere around here to hawaii in a 20 foot boat just like the one I had before this one with a case of beans and a case of beer. He survived, too!
That 12 foot boat though, that's just fucked up levels of crazy. Where do you keep the beer in a boat that little?!
3-5 week trip, only one case? Probably kept it in the bilge.
I don't think there is a Cal 20 in existence with a fridge. There's just no physical room in there. It's like a couple refrigerator boxes with a mast and a keel.
Oh. How did I see "fridge" when you clearly wrote "bilge", Well, yeah - the bilge is also the cabin sole. Or I guess an inch below it, on that boat. They're small. They're also fast and freakishly seaworthy. Well, fast for a 20 footer...
