Really how do you do it?

Really how do you do it?

By your accent I can tell you have a rear wheel drive pick up truck. You need to load up the back of your truck with all the spare car parts that are in your front yard or whatever heavy shit you can put in the back. Stop way sooner than you need to. Avoid any inertia. If you feel your body being pulled in any direction you are going too fast.

Your so fuckin wrong, well I do have a rear wheel drive f150. but my daily is a 4x grand cherokee.

[–] 1 pt

throw 2 sand bags over the rear axle and you'll have better traction. you also want to feel the road through the pedal, you feel your tires start to slip you let off the accelerator and gently tap brakes as/if needed slamming on them will cause your vehicle to slide. then if your tires are bald as shit then you're fucked no matter what.

[–] 1 pt

Man, before I was a lord, all I could afford was a subgrand cherokee. And I honestly never got along that well with cherokees, but at least they ain't navajos. I can't fucking stand navajos.

But that's just like my opinion. Man.

[–] 1 pt

So I cant afford a boat, why you got to make fun of me man? I never liked the blackfeet either.

[–] 1 pt

fukn A! make the 11 kids get in there too!

[–] 2 pts

I like the 12th one, so he can ride up front.

she gawt awl her teef an is cute!

The secret is to go slow because it takes longer to stop. Plus you'll have a better view of all the idiots around you slamming into things, including you.

[–] 0 pt

This. Go slow, your breaks are worse than useless because all they'll do is rob you of any traction you do have.

[–] 3 pts

You have to put on smooth jazz and close one eye

[–] 3 pts

I can close one eye, I need to do that typing here sometimes! heh

Take it slow.

If your start to slide -pump your breaks and turn into it SLOWLY.

If you get stuck "rock & roll" - put the car in forward go slow until it stops going then [instead of pushing the accelerator down more] you put the car in reverse, back and forth your way out of it SLOWLY!!!

[–] 1 pt

While the rest of ScreaminMime's advice is good, unless you have shitty car from the 90's with no ABS don't pump your breaks; this is old advice. ABS will pump much more efficiently than you could.

[–] 1 pt

My abs is disabled, Im old school.

[–] 1 pt

if you're going out driving enable it. The computer can stop and restart the wheel a dozen times a second, whereas you are much less efficient.

[–] 0 pt

Oh, look at Mr. Rich Guy with his post-90s ca... waidaminute, 90s vehicles are no longer "the shit"?

[–] 0 pt

:-) Hey my first few cars were made in the 90's because that's all I could afford.

[–] 0 pt

Nope, even with AbS you should pump them on ice. I've tested this for years in different vehicles on all sorts of icey and snowey roads. Just a couple days ago sliding down a massive hill into a busy intersection even. You can stop pretty quick on ice by pumping the breaks if you are going about 30.

It should be noted the more weight for traction you add the longer it will take you to stop.

[–] 2 pts

I don't take ice. I'll have mine neat, thanks.

[–] 1 pt

smartass, just cause its 75 there all the time.

My wife put the heater at 69 and now it feels all hot in here!

I was working outside though, where it was like 61ish? Idunno, that's what the car claimed. It's dark now so I guess it's cooler, but I am thinking about having some beers on the boat. I'll have to wear a sweater or 2, though.

So even though it's technically under 75f, you point pretty much still stands... although you're technically wrong. That's the BEST KIND of wrong, by the way!

61

sweater

or 2

You are truly a faggot.

It's 58 in my house right now and I like it.

[–] 2 pts

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

This is so fucking enjoyable for me.

muh it's cold outside

I completely understand it though. You don't have the infrastructure to support anything below 80 degrees. But it's still hilarious.

What's more hilarious is the dumb fucks on the news and everywhere near me who should be able to handle this. It's not even remotely cold. There were multiple winters of weather that was MUCH colder than it is now when I was a child. Still walked to school.

[–] 1 pt

Still walked to school.

Uphill?

[–] 0 pt

Actually I have enough, Im not stupid. I rode a bike 3 miles uphill to school and back each day.

Live in a state where they plow and salt the roads. If that's not a possibility, snow tires or chains. If no those, be sure you have new tires and let a bit of air out for some traction. Don't go on the highway with underinflated tires, stick to 35mph or lower. If the speed limit on the road you're going on is 45 or 55, fuck it, stick to 35mph and put your flashers on. Be hyper aware of other drivers, as they'll likely be really dangerous to you. Go slower than you think you need to. Don't go up or down hills, stick to flat or nearly flat. If you must go up a hill, try to get more speed because you don't want to stall and slip down. Bring a bag of salt and a bag of sand so that when you ignore my advice and get stuck you can unstick yourself. Edit- Kitty litter also works, but not as well as salt

Also break waaay before you think you need to.

Edit 2- also try practicing in your neighborhood, or a parking lot or some other place where you're unlikely to really fuck up your car.

[–] 1 pt

Or drive

[–] 1 pt (edited )

Reduce speed. Refrain as much as possible from using your brakes, regulate your accel/decel very carefully in order to not let your tires spin or skid. Leave plenty of room and plan way ahead when you need to slow down. Aim to go straight across slick patches without changing direction. Tire chains can help a bit.

[–] 1 pt

Keep your tires out of the shinny part of the lane when slowing to stop. Move over slightly to the left or right to get off the shinny pavement and you'll get a little more traction. And of course double or triple your stopping distance.
