Is there any specific reason why you use both?
One blocks ads, one blocks trackers. I also use an add on that changes the user string to I can spoof other browsers/operating systems, and one that randomizes the hardware that is reported. Anything in an effort to obfuscate data profiles being built about me. I have no way of knowing how effective it is, but I take some small comfort in knowing that I may be making someone's life a little more difficult.
Of note, I had been running into websites claiming that my browser wasn't supported, and trying to convince me to use something else, like chrome, edge, etc. I used the user string spoofing thing to change it to chrome, and suddenly the websites just worked like they had in the past, which was interesting to me, because one of the claims was that using an unsupported browser would degrade my experience.
Thank you for sharing. You should make an educational post for the rest of us! I think people would be really receptive to your ideas.
You're right about sites wanting you to use chrome. Especially job application sites. I can't tell you how many brass ring and similar platforms refuse to work with anything other than chrome.
I honestly had no idea that browser spoofing was possible.
That was more or less it. The browser spoofing thing was recent for me, mostly in an attempt to forego having to rely on the approved browsers.
