From a guy named Thomas Smith. I have his discharge papers, the ribbon of the unit he was in and letters of recommendation. He was wounded in the . He was an officer in the 49th Ohio volunteer infantry and after he was wounded he was discharged on July 23, 1862 from Columbus, Ohio. Who would I take this to to have the stuff appraised? They have a museum there, but they are non-profit. I was just going to donate the stuff, but my elderly neighbor who is a vet told me I could be holding a good chunk of money.
