My white lady friend is due with her baby boy in a few months and I need to write her a thoughtful email telling her to look into circumscision. I feel like she may choose to do it for stupid reasons. I'd like to do what I can to prevent a white boy from suffering. There's the foreskin market, the pain, the risk for later sexual dysfunction- give me all the good arguments and links.

I'd do the research myself but I am pregnant and have wicked first trimester nausea and really only have it in me to write the email. I could use y'alls help.

Thanks!!

You're welcome. I hope, for her son's sake, that your attempts to inform her are successful and that she isn't so far gone that she still chooses to remain ignorant to the damage it will do to her child, and that it being done could even kill him. I hope that she will not proceed to choose to permanently mutilate her son's body and mind and personally choose to kill the person that he could become without such mental and physical scarring and disfiguring.

Circumcision deaths in USA | Circinfo.org https://www.circinfo.org/USA_deaths.html Each year in the United States more than 100 newborn baby boys die as a result of circumcision and circumcision complications. This is the alarming conclusion of a study, published in the Journal of Boyhood Studies which examined hospital discharge and mortality statistics in order to answer two questions: (1) How many baby boys dies as a result of circumcision in the neonatal period (within 28 days of birth)? (2) Why are so few of these deaths officially recorded as due to circumcision? ___ Study: Lost Boys: An Estimate of U.S. Circumcision-Related Infant Deaths (2010) https://www.researchgate.net/publication/240804903_Lost_Boys_An_Estimate_of_US_Circumcision-Related_Infant_Deaths

"Baby boys can and do succumb as a result of having their foreskin removed. Circumcision-related mortality rates are not known with certainty; this study estimates the scale of this problem. This study finds that more than 100 neonatal circumcision-related deaths (9.01/100,000) occur annually in the United States, about 1.3% of male neonatal deaths from all causes. Because infant circumcision is elective, all of these deaths are avoidable. This study also identifies reasons why accurate data on these deaths are not available, some of the obstacles to preventing these deaths, and some solutions to over-come them.

Circumcision Deaths - Circumcision Information and Resource Pages http://www.cirp.org/library/death/ ___ Study: Neonatal circumcision and prematurity are associated with sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS)(2019) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6412606/ Result: "SIDS mortality rate was significantly and positively correlated with MNC (male neonatal circumcision)." "Neonatal circumcision is associated with a greater risk of SIDS" ___ Complications of circumcision - British Journal of Surgery (1993) http://www.cirp.org/library/complications/williams-kapila/ "There is however, enormous variation between the circumcision rate in the UK (5-6 per cent) and that in the USA (80-90 per cent). This large discrepancy exists despite recommendations from both the British Medical Association and the American Association of Pediatricians that circumcision should be performed only for medical reasons. All techniques aim to provide the best cosmetic result together with the lowest possible morbidity rate; in this respect the key factors to be observed are attention to asepsis, adequate but not excessive excision of the inner and outer preputial layers, haemostatis and cosmesis. Some authors have reported a complication rate as low as 0.06 per cent, while at the other extreme rates of up to 55 per cent have been quoted. This reflects the differing and varying diagnostic criteria employed; a realistic figure is 2-10 per cent. Although haemorrhage and sepsis are the main causes of morbidity, the variety of complications is enormous. The literature abounds with reports of morbidity and even death as a result of circumcision."

There are dozens, hundreds, thousands of sites and studies done showing it can kill the child. So many parents have no clue at all that they are opting in to have a completely optional, physically-scarring, mentally-damaging major surgery be performed on their newly born son and that them choosing to have this done to their new born son could kill him.

Thanks so much. She does listen to me a bit as she tends to be more into the natural minded stuff. She is taking a natural birth class with an instrctor that I recommended, has bought the books I recommended, and is using a doula I recommended. I have no idea what her thoughts are on circumscision but she does seem to buck the trend when she sees the logic. I am really hoping she spares her boy. I feel like I have a good shot at helping this baby avoid that kind of tremendous suffering so I gotta try.
