My white lady friend is due with her baby boy in a few months and I need to write her a thoughtful email telling her to look into circumscision. I feel like she may choose to do it for stupid reasons. I'd like to do what I can to prevent a white boy from suffering. There's the foreskin market, the pain, the risk for later sexual dysfunction- give me all the good arguments and links.

I'd do the research myself but I am pregnant and have wicked first trimester nausea and really only have it in me to write the email. I could use y'alls help.

Thanks!!

A good leading question is: "Have you done your research on circumcision?"

From there you can either reinforce her decision, or provide information. Some people cannot be convinced or educated.

Those who choose to get circumcised later in life seldom choose the methods used on newborns. We customize every aspect of our lives, from our smartphones, to our vehicles, our homes, clothes, and so on. Why not circumcision?

There are many methods of circumcision, all with drastically different results.

Some methods of circumcision remove more or less of the incredibly sensitive and erogenous inner foreskin. Then there is tightness of the circumcision, leave or remove frenulum, etc.

Circumcision is a major and permanent surgery to the most intimate and sensual part of the male body. It is not something to be considered lightly.

Even to someone pro-circ, advocating that infanthood is NOT the best time is fairly straightforward.

There is no feedback from the person being circumcised. There is no customization. The penis is small, so mistakes are big. The penis hasn't grown, so the amount of skin being removed is a best guess. The foreskin is also fused to the head of the penis, which means in order for circumcision to take place, the foreskin must be ripped from the head of the penis. Then you are putting an open wound into a diaper.

With today's massive emphasis on choice, from abortion, to every range of freedom, it is not consonant to make such a major decision in the absence of urgency. It's not like waiting will yield poorer results. Quite the contrary, rushing often leads to sub-par results.

That is a great leading question. I am absolutely going to include that. Great feedback :)

Anytime. Did you get sufficient links and info to make your argument?

I did. She said she's very open minded to both sides, which is lame that she isn't totally against it- but I'm glad she's really looking into it. I don't know how a person can see both sides and choose to circ.
