I've both heard this in everyday conversations and seen it in text on the internet.

What I mean is that a person will legitimately use the phrase in a conversation, and then immediately another person will repeat the phrase as if mockingly or like its some sort of meme. Sometimes its repeated multiple times like an echo. Its very bizarre (especially without context), as if the NPCs are becoming more and more like robot's.

I assume this phrase must have been popularized by some Hollywood production recently.

Show called Letterkenny. Cult following, not really "popular", and Canadian, so not exactly "Hollywood".

Weird. Thats the exact sort of thing I'm seeing.. I'm finding a random show from Canada being the influence a bit hard to believe though. Herd mentality is a hell of a thing it seems.

Well, the whole point of the gag is to satirize midwits who say "To be fair," so there was a bit of a phenomenon to begin with, a dedicated fan base latches onto it, and then NPCs repeated it without understanding what the fuck was going on.

4chan turned OK into a white power symbol. Meme magic happens. Sometimes by accident.

I'm generally not involved in the conversation. These are mostly random interactions between co-workers, or people on social media and talk show type internet streams.

So just coincidence, but you recognize something your brain will spot it..There are zillions of bits of information flying thru your senses all the time, so your brain has to filter it out constantly otherwise you would be like a deer in headlights..but once you start thinking of something your brain will spot it out...if it's on the queue your brain will find it.

Coulda just been in my echo chamber but for like two months I swore people were almost looking for an opportunity to say it. Like "woke" and "real talk" and shit is overused.
