If you gave a .22 caliber LR with a 12 rnd magazine to a soldier during the Civil War would he prefer it over the musket? Knowing how good of a shot I am I think I would prefer the .22LR with the full confidence of accuracy up to 200 yards....I'd have no problem performing head shots.

I shoot practically every day here, pest control has it's advantages. I'm smoking pigeons ( pig eon as the coon would say ) at 50yrds with .22 shorts free hand in the standing position. Rats and squirrels I'm doing head shots at 20 yards , right between the eyes in sitting position. Raccoons get a short at any distance within 15yrds , beyond that there's no kill power left.

And you should see me with a. 270 WSM, 300 MAG OR .50 CALIBER STEYER HS50 M1.

I too have shot a gun.

You can carry unlimited ammo with a 22lr.

Go with a shotgun (smooth bore) and you can utilize a variety of rounds; birdshot, buckshot, and numerous variations of slugs.

Some slugs are accurate out to 200 yards. You can easily, and economically reload most of your own shells as well.

It's a little different when the Rats, squirrels and raccoons are shooting back...

Here's what you do. Have a bunch of buddies and start living in the woods. Then, whenever a friend gets hired in the forest media, government or education, they hire you or another friend. You'll need to do that for Bout 10 or so years, maybe longer. But your in pest control, this is that long game. Then, once you control over the forest dwellers media, education and government, implement communism. But make SURE you don't call it communism. Call it socialism if you need to call it anything. Then, when the time is right, start importing pests from other forests. The host forest will crumble economically, and all invading pests will fall with it. BTW, shotgun.
