“It's our position that everyone may use their freedom of speech for any purpose except to limit others' freedom of speech.”

How does this square with someone commenting then blocking replys?

Is the right of reply not part of free speech?

I unblocked almost everyone when I found this out. Just because I don't want to see 's slide posts doesn't mean he shouldn't be able to reply when I call him a filthy, sliding, unnaturally hirsute kike.

I did the same. I understand all the justifications for the change to the mechanics of the block, but in practice it's way too abusable.

So all blocks are like that now? I thought someone had extra privileges.

There are a few people who have blocked me but still like to leave shit talking comments knowing I can't respond. Its hilarious.

It doesn't square

Petition? I didn't see it. Should be a poll or something.

You can say what you want. People also dont have to listen to you if they dont want to.

[–] 2 pts

That is obviously their right, but blocking them from responding is denying the right of everyone else to hear what they say. The block should only affect the view of the blocker.

It dosent stop them from their say, they can still make their own post. You cant force people to listen to you.

[–] 2 pts

You should have the ability to block them from your view, but not to block them from everyone else. Just because you don’t want to see a particular comment doesn’t mean that you should have the right to prevent me from seeing it.

Absolutely the most toxic mechanic I've ever seen implemented in any kind of discussion forum. The hit n run cowards wet dream

[–] 0 pt

Exactly the point, this just invites the most passive aggressive tactics into any discussion.

It most certainly will destroy any potential for free speech.

[–] 1 pt

Right to free speech does not equate to the right to force others to listen

[–] 1 pt

What ever happened to if you don't like what you're listening to, change the station?

[–] 1 pt

Am I censoring CNN by turning off CNN?

The way blocking was, you'd have to seek out their comments to know they exist. That's not forcing you to acknowledge them. Now they can't make comments at all.

[–] 1 pt

I'd say no, but you're a white supremacist and domestic terrorist if you turn on Fox!

So we all just sit round with our fingers in our ears shouting ‘LALALALALALALA!’ instead of discussing, and using reasoned argument and facts?

What about someone so resoundingly retarded that they refuse to do that?

The guy who goes NUH UH YOURE WRONG no matter what you do or say? Im not going to keep indulging retards. They can waste their own time, but I won’t have them waste mine.

[–] 2 pts

Well, you can be a big boy and make them look bad, or you're free to ignore them...

You can make your point, then if the other party is not making sense you can leave the discussion and move on. Others will be able to read the thread later and make up their own minds, and pick up the discussion if they feel they can advance the discussion.
