Herpes blisters are symptoms. As long as the virus is hiding from the immune system (dormant, asymptomatic), it doesn't spread.
That is absolutely false. I won't get into how I know for certain but here: https://justherpes.com/facts/herpes-viral-shedding/
Herpes viral shedding refers to a stage of herpes when the virus becomes active on the skin surface and is contagious.
The dormant virus sometimes wakes up, gets visible on the skin surface and gets contagious ...
Sometimes, it is asymptomatic viral shedding
... but sometimes you cannot see the symptoms ...
A study in the Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy states that asymptomatic patients can be educated about signs of shedding to be more aware of when the virus has become active
... but you can learn to see the symptoms by looking closer.
