Every disease is asymptomatic and contagious during its dormant period
Many are not. Many viruses are so perfectly adapted to the human host that they are dormant in almost the whole population (herpes, for example). Everybody of us has maybe six different dormant viruses. Only sometimes they become symptomatic and spread (herpes blisters, for example).
SARS-CoV-2 seems to have no asymptomatic spread. While testing 10 million people 4 weeks after the lockdown in Wuhan, they have found 300 asymptomatic cases. There were no positive tests amongst the close contacts of the asymptomatic cases. The study is peer reviewed and there are British universities involved:
