for this specific project I'm wondering how many drones can fly with 1080p+ video quality. I see now 4k fpv and that would be ideal. how many 4k drones can i put in the air and record live feed from at once? if i were able to set up repeater towers can i receive full signal from recorded cameras and live feeds around a large area?

No current systems support 1080p video quality live feed. If you are running analog there are 72 channels in the 5.8ghz band capable of running pal/ntsc resolutions but generally there can be 8 feeds at any given time. If you are using dji fpv there are 8 channels at 720p with connection scaling at 25mbps and 4 channels at 50mbps. Shark byte has 8 channels.

thank you very much. do dji and sharkbyte run on the same frequencies? is there any documentation on the freqs? is this taking up channels for other wireless devices?

Yeah everything operates on the 5.8ghz band so different devices channels overlap other devices in different ways.
