Most likely because then everyone would start talking about how Microsoft partnered with Google to integrate Chrome into Edge, and then integrated Edge into the OS telemetry & logins, creating the perfect NSA spying aparatus.

Microsoft, Google, and the US Government embedded organizations would all prefer nobody talks about how Windows 10 is the perfect spying machine. Your local cops can request your IP, browser history, and even account logins & credentials to chase "crime" and other arbitrarily defined "criminal behavior".

This tyranny will only rapidly accelerate with each new layer of machine learning & automation.

Minority Report isn't far off. Very soon we will have a China style social credit system that can look back 30 years into your past to judge you, regardless of who and/or what you think and do today.

Yep. I have for a few years now, and I am not even a tech guy or such. I do still have a W7 box for Architectural work and the occasional game though. If anyone reading this is still using W for their daily driver because they fear Linux and the dreaded "Magic Text In The Terminal", just try it. I only have to do two things regularly in the terminal- fire up Nord and the driver for my pen tablet and it isn't a big deal.

When I get the money I intend to put a new drive into my computer for the purpose of installing Linux. I'm probably going to use Mint or Fedora

Mint is more Windowish and makes the transition easier. That's the one I first used when I went Linux and switched to Ubuntu a year or so ago. You don't really need a new drive to try out Linux, just an ~8gb USB drive and you are good to go.

I'm not sure if anyone is aware, but all Microsoft firewall products like Defender, ISA, WAP, Forefront were designed, and worked on in Isral, not a single bit was made outside of Istrael, nobody exept israel techs had access to source code of any of those products, they had seperate teams working on those products. This still continues.
