the current tax system subjugates the population in multiple ways. Tax inflation devalues labor. Tax law creates criminals and stifles enterprise and creativity. And the govt can do a lot without taxes. It can raise funds in other ways (donations, enterprise, mandate, etc) but could also rely more on volunteerism, forced labor, dogma, or a number of other methods of getting things done. It currently will finance entire wars without the tax budget to back it up.

What can the gov do without tax revenues that it can't do with tax revenues? :/

No tax revenues would deliver an additional 4 trillion sized budget hole every year

I highly doubt that donations, corporate or otherwise, would be enough to fill that gap. I think so called donors would be the first in line to flee the country actually

nothing will ever fill the gap, taxes or no. Have you not realized the US govt doesnt need to earn money the way you do? It runs a deficit every year forever. Did you not hear Rumsfeld just before 9/11? Multi-trillion dollar black budgets. It can print as much money as it needs because it has a monopoly on violence.

When the USSR went bankrupt it certainly didn't empower the state apparatus, the bureaucracy, etc

So I still fail to see the correlation between absence of tax revenues and increase of population subjugation by the gov

When the gov is bankrupt it's bankrupt, and the only reason why the US gov remains "solvent" is because of the reserve currency status of the dollar, which is backed by what's left of the petro dollar and petro dollar recycling systems, which in turn are backed by the US army for lack of better alternative

And reserve currency status doesn't last forever https://pic8.co/sh/Z2Paq2.png
