I'm waiting on fair elections
When elections aren't real, anything is possible... but that wont ever happen. They'll just raise taxes.
You may say I'm dreamer... But I'm not the only one....
If the government can't follow its own laws, why should I?
Oh, it's not really a matter of should or shouldn't you know, or allowed or not allowed
It's a matter of can or can't, always in the end, it always boils down to this ultimately
Can you afford to not follow the law?
That's the real question. Of course you are free to remain silent
congress would veto it

Can congress overturn executive orders?
No, they cannot. The only thing they may be able to do is to sue the government to the court. They will be stating that the government has the president has gone beyond his authority. This can also be a very complicated process because whoever issuing should have a standing in the issue. Some have stated that the legislature does not. There are three ways via which an executive order can get overturned and they all hardly ever succeed. The first is that the president may change, supersede ad revoke and executive order. Also, Congress may revoke an executive order if and only if the President was acting with the authority that given by Congress. Finally, the courts may declare an executive order as illegal.
What Are The Ways Via Which An Executive Order May Get Terminated?
There are several ways via which an executive order can get terminated. A sitting president may rescind an executive order that got issued by him or a president before. This is usually the case when a new president comes into office with His policy objectives. One example of this scenario is when President Donald Trump issued an executive order about the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).
Also, Congress may override and an executive order by eliminating the funding required for the operation. Note that while an executive order may have the force of Federal Law, it is still subject to any federal law that contradicts it. It is always quite difficult to override an executive order and it is not common. This is because it may get vetoed by the President and due to the partisan nature of politics these days, it would be impossible to gather a two-thirds majority to veto the decision of the President.
The final way an executive order may get vetoed is in a court of competent jurisdiction especially if the president acts beyond his authority when it gets issued. This can be quite difficult to determine because when the President issues such an order, he usually links his authority to different sources.
Congress Has the Power to Pass New Legislation to Override an Executive Order, Which Then Would Need to Have the Votes to Survive a Presidential Veto
Hardly matters.
Even if a president did push such an EO through, the next administration would quickly rescind it after the assassination.
Executive orders are unconstitutional. That should answer your question.
Simply put, no.
A Presidential Executive Order directs Federal employees / agencies only. It can't supersede law or an article of the Constitution.
So, if one wanted to, a President could sign an EO forbidding the IRS from collecting any personal income taxes, as an example.
Of course, the next office holder could simply overwrite that EO with another one.
>Of course, the next office holder could simply overwrite that EO with another one.
Yeah, but wouldn't it be sort of too late after 4 years like that?
Imagine if Trump did it. The very first EO Biden's handlers would have had him sign was one to reverse the policy, then (likely) go after all of the back taxes.
I would think so, but no one below you as President will carry out the order or the other two branches will overrule you.
Taxes are necessary
Yeah but, maybe that's the only way out once the entire gov is fully taken over
Maybe one man can make the difference like that, idk
certainly not for a constitutional republic. maybe if youre a tyrant trying to subjugate a population, or a mafia boss trying to avoid dirty jobs.
How is that supposed to subjugate a population? I don't follow the reasoning here, the gov is by definition unable to do anything for lack of funds, how is it going to subjugate an entire population if it can't even budget a taxi ride?
the current tax system subjugates the population in multiple ways. Tax inflation devalues labor. Tax law creates criminals and stifles enterprise and creativity. And the govt can do a lot without taxes. It can raise funds in other ways (donations, enterprise, mandate, etc) but could also rely more on volunteerism, forced labor, dogma, or a number of other methods of getting things done. It currently will finance entire wars without the tax budget to back it up.
Taxing your personal income is not necessary! Uncle Sam made more money today selling Weapons than taxpayers paid. Your tax is greed and slush fund.
WHAAATTT!?
What?
I agree and I'm no big govn't booster. However, most people don't realize that paved roads, electricity, firefighters, cops, etc. are all possible because of taxes. Granted a lot of our money is wasted and goes to sectors I may not support but that's another discussion.
