Forum sliding is a thing and was a huge problem on voat. All day long many people would slide. Anytime a topic got traction they would repost that article to divide commentary and obscure previous discussions. Especially if noteworthy, related information was provided in previous comments.
There were many closed groups in Voat, people who have blocked all subs except the few where their friends resided. So they reposted links just because they haven't seen them in other subs. Maybe this is inevitable and will happen here too, sooner or later .

It won't. Poal doesn't have and will never have private subs, nor anon subs/posts/comments.
There are two possibilities to handle the information overload: Look at HOT and TOP, hoping that other users have upvoted the important stuff, or look at NEW and block all users and subs that add noise. The blocking method leads to a personalized experience with well known usernames around, but it also leads into filter bubbles.
That may explain a small fraction of the post activity on voat. The amount of shill forum sliding was through the roof.
