That’s literally the jewish opinion about the matter.
It's their religion, they know who is or isn't the messiah.
Most of them realized Christ was the Messiah, and became Judean Christians. They lost their jewish identity within a generation or so. Some of their descendants live in Palestine to this day.
It was only the religious and political leadership - the elites - that rejected Christ. Those became the ancestors of modern jews. Christ Himself said He came for the common, the lowly, the downtrodden etc, ie the victimized and oppressed peasant class. Of course there also existed members of the ruling class, Joseph of Aramathea, Nicodemus, probably others, who recognized the Messiah. They became Christians, and lost their jewish identity within a generation or two.
This is all well-known and understood in the Orthodox world. Your entire perspective could only develop in the shadow of that awareness.
