I'm in the market for a residential safe, never owned a safe before. I've been reading that everything at costco/home depot is garbage. I somewhat understand the categories, a TL15 or RSC is what I'm looking for. If anyone can educate me about specific brands to avoid I would greatly appreciate it, information is limited online. Thank you 🥂

You got to hide it. Any safe can be broken into with enough time. A dewalt cordless grinder can eat right into just about any safe. A safe that is “not there” is the best safe. My safe is the bottom half of my laundry basket. No burgler is going to dig through my dirty undies...be creative.

Exactly! The best safe is one that no one is even aware of.

If your safe is magnesium they're gonna have a lot of fun shortly after trying that.

Gardall or Amsec. B rated safe at least. TL is a bit overkill if you are not putting highly valued items in but is good due to weight. The 15 in TL15 means it is 15 minutes for tool and torch resistance which is in the hands of real people, not your run of the mill idiot thieves. TL30 is 30 minutes. TLs will be about 1k lbs vs 200 to 600 for lesser safes. Your regular gun or fire safes are what is easy to get into with just a grinder or pry bar. What ever you go with It needs to be hidden and bolted to ground. If thieves find it or devious acquaintances know about it they will zero in on it and really work to get it open, but once again TLs are on another level and I’ve seen thieves drag them out on pavement/roads attached to their car so they can get it to a place with heavy equipment.

Great information bud. A local shop here has some eagle safes and inkas, but I found out eagle safes are made in Korea. I want American steel baby. Not from America by the way lol

Buy one on Craigslist, lots of businesses going bust. There are moving companies that specialize in moving safes.

You leave the safe easy to find to keep the fucks occupied. Store your very high valuables in a safety deposit box, less valuables hide in a fake book, a fake can, you get the idea.

People recommending others should store anything of value in a safe deposit box are Typically unaware of the period where gold was illegal to own in the us. when gold was suddenly made illegal to own, the government placed seals on all of the boxes. In order to break the seal, an irs agent was required to be present. They would inspect the box and take your shit. They could also potentially charge you with a federal crime if they wanted- if you didn't hand over the gold earlier.

They could do that again at any time.

Fuck safety deposit boxes. Read / learn from history.

Yeah, you may not want to keep your drugs there. Also if you die whomever inherits gets to have a bank officer present when the box is open to log contents for tax purposes. If you are trying to bypass legalities you find a hidy hole for your illicit treasure.

I got a safe. But its not to keep things from being burgled. Its to keep important paper work and hard drive back up in case of a fire.

30 minutes or better are the best.

The 3 to buy:

American Security

Sturdy

Those 2 are the best. You don't need a third. BTW, AMSEC has an American made and an import. The American made one is slightly better on plate thickness.

Hide the safe as much as you can, don't share the location with anyone (my daughter has never seen the safe in our house that has been here for many years). Also have a fake book full of cash and a hidden loaded pistol hidden nearby in a logical spot (for you). In the event your security system is breached and you are caught flatfooted in a home invasion, lead them to your cash stash and as they grab it, grab your gun out and go down fighting.

you could buy two safes and put petty stones and 20 dollars in one and leave it out in the open as a decoy safe. maybe you could electrify the dummy safe.

You could do the floor safe thing, basically dig a hole in your garage concrete floor or something similar. Buy a floor safe and sink it in that. Least they would not carry the safe away to crack open later. Should be fairly safe from fires as well.

I saw that in john wicke starring nigger
