I've been checking Zillow, Hotpads, Trulia and Craigslist for so long. I keep running into scams on both sites. Until 2020 we could find places easily in our price range and never got scammed. In fact the other times we moved we were approved immediately. Now it's weeks in between finding somewhere and they either never answer or won't pick up the phone once we do an application (with a fee every time, it's all scams). Or they do the text code scam on Craigslist a lot. I think all the people from the cities wanted to move away from all the BS, and since they can pay more we've been priced out? On Craigslist they try to charge $500-600 for a single room in a house, when that was enough for a modest house about a year ago. Which isn't fair bc we've actually lived where we want to move, didn't want to leave in the first place and have been trying to move back before all this corona stuff started. People from the blue states acted like Appalachia and the south were a joke until their precious cities became too dangerous. :/ Anyway, do you guys know of another website or some other way to find a place to rent? We have all our stuff packed and ready to go. We need to move before May to be close to a safer hospital and I'm starting to panic lol.

Watch old reruns of Threes Company and do everything Jack tripper does.

Whatever you do, use paragraphs.

Run your own ad specifying your requirements. I've done this last two places I've rented. Puts you in control. Cost me £15 for 30 days' access to website and I got excellent replies. Remember to specify "no agents" to deter the jews. Landlords will contact you directly and you can weed out the time-wasters.

I’m going to get some hate but Facebook market place. You can see the posters profile which leads to less fraud

Talk to local real estate brokers in the location you want to move to. They know a lot about the local properties, and can sometimes hook you up.

It's worked for me before.

Buy an RV and live in it full time. There may be an initial investment but after that it's cheap living. You're also mobile as hell. Lots of RV parks to choose from. We are now in southern MO and pay 0/month as we are work camping, free spot and$400/mo. We also pay out about $30 for electric and about $50 for propane. Been at it for a year now and would never go back.

We have a 2015 35' 5th wheel I paid 20k for and a 2006 Ford f250 I paid 10k for.

I have actually thought about doing this. A lot of places you buy "slots" like a boat and they have hookups to water. and they are in parks, so you basically live in the country, cell internet etc. gets cold go south. not much to clean you probably save money because you not be buying so much stuff

Or, a truck with a fifth wheel and trailer like you said

The hard part is getting rid of all your worthless stuff. After you downsize though it's a great feeling and the sense of freedom is amazing.

https://files.catbox.moe/laawvw.jpg This was in the Florida Panhandle. Nice spot on the lake.

I fucking want one, but they're too cold in the winter, and I'm not going south for eight months a year.
