What is surprising is how recent some of the poal posts have been. One was less than an hour old!

See a link on Poal
Click Link (from same browser)
Browser takes you to link
The website for the link that you went to gets the referrer URL that you clicked

In other words: if you click a link on Poal to Twitter, Twitter will know that you clicked on that link from Poal. This is a standard function of HTTP.

There are a few ways around this:

Open a new browser with a blank URL and copy paste: Result is no referrer.
Use TinyURL or something to mask the source: Result is that the referrer is TinyURL and not Poal.
Obfuscate by trying to access a fake website first (www.com) to get a 404, and then paste link: Result is no referrer.
