Which one is more practical to you? I lean on Silver because its easier to divy up into smaller daily units. For example buying bread with silver, is easier than givein out a 1/16th of 1/16th of an oz in gold or something. Thoughts?

That's my point. You have to clean anyway. What's the point of making the surface anti-microbial?

To lock away the existing bugs and hinder their surface establishment. There's tons of research and tradition around this, go forth and read.
