Which one is more practical to you? I lean on Silver because its easier to divy up into smaller daily units. For example buying bread with silver, is easier than givein out a 1/16th of 1/16th of an oz in gold or something. Thoughts?

Thing to remember about precious metals is that they are not a currency. You have to redeem your metals into US Dollars before buying goods. Easy to imagine an 45% excise tax on physical gold/silver transactions to fuck over preppers.

I'd guess if you stayed with us minted silver coins you'll be able to purchase at local stores for way more than face value and not worry about (((exchange taxes)))

Why more than face value? An ounce of silver is worth 26 bucks +/- the fees involved. That will buy you a haircut

Likely move to bartertown if they enacted that:-)
