In my experience some workouts where you push yourself to the max are beneficial, and help prevent you from getting lazy, but, overall I'd say it's better to go at like 70-80%. Less risk of injury/burnout. You'll be better off at a lower intensity for a longer period of time than a high intensity for a short period of time.

That said, if you're on roids/working out for a living/can sleep 10-12 hours per night/have an insane amount of discipline/etc, then by all means, workout at a high intensity for many months/years.

Excuse me, I am the only one authorized to give advice on lifting. Get out of my limelight or meet the end of my 18" gun https://ibb.co/hmNXspT

Completely depends on your age and what level you're at

The body can only repair so fast. No sense blowing it out.

It also depends on the individual. I can literally lift pretty hard every single day without getting sore or needing a break very often.

If you are lifting hard and do not have soreness, either you are not tearing muscle or you are on some strong gear.

Nope I'm just unique that way. I definitely don't max out but I lift pretty hard and I work out every single day. I'll take a day off here and there but it's not uncommon for me to go 15 days straight. I've never done steroids either. I'm also in my early 40s and have noticed no physical degradation whatsoever yet. I feel exactly the same as I did when I was 20 and I'm just as strong. Everybody has different genetics. Physically my Norwegian and German genes have done me well. Of course most people can't do what I do and I would absolutely recommend they don't.

If you pushed yourself so hard that you aren’t able to recover enough to do the exact same workout after 1 rest day, then you pushed it too hard. If your lifts are stagnating and you want to change things up by going extra hard with an extra day of rest for a bit that’s fine. However, based on the things that I’ve read, that is not the most efficient way to increase strength or size over the long run.
