That's true, I think it's not as much about the earth surviving that makes our opinions matter it's the quality of our lives and those around us.
It's the same with our actions. The world will still be here regardless of what I do. My family will still survive if I barely cook, laundry is rarely done, and the house is always a mess, they will probably still all live, However all our lives will be better if I make good meals on a regular basis, and if I keep up on the house and the laundry. I think the same can be said for having a well thought out opinion. You can be a fence sitter and have no opinion and the world will still turn but do things improve or change if we all have no opinion?
I guess if you look at it like. Maybe i looked at too big a picture. I do like to zoom all the way out but at that scale nothing humanity does matters anyway
Right, one way to look at it is that nothing matters, another way is to look at it as everything we do matters in one capacity or another.
