Yeah. It's painful. After the hull comes the water and power system. The current solar is inadequate for long term cruising, water is foot pumps and no hot water, not cool.

Worth it though, once done I can go anywhere.

Taking my ASA courses asap. I'm way behind but unemployed so Im going to power through it. Iv never sailed before and the clock is ticking.Any thoughts on WHERE to go? I'm closer to the west coast than any other water.

Hmmm... I was looking to remote work from the Caribbean. If you're looking to liveboard the west coast is kinda bad for that. Cali has heavy restrictions on anchoring and liveaboard slips, and anywhere north of that is cold. It's a long way to the canal. I would launch from the gulf if possible, or even FL if you can muster it. Once it's offshore ready I'm heading there to complete work before setting off.

Good luck, go small, go now!

We were thinking panama/beleze. Maybe even Chile. Are there any groups/forums/etc for this that are not full of horrible leftward provax promaskers? Any 'patriot' boat networks? I have zero friends in this world. Zero connections. Zero experience.

Someone here said to get my ASA certs. The books are on the way. There is a sailing school at a local lake here. I'm going to join in about a month. Hopefully the weather breaks. I don't know what I'm doing. Have you heard of any groups looking to do this type of stuff?

What sort of work were you looking into? I was hoping the boat could. Be my 'job' by taking people out on it.
