That's a solid assessment. It's going to take a complete North American clean-up, or we break up. If we choose option 1, it's going to be dirty as fuck. Complete removal of all undesirable elements. Starting with the tribe. Then the communists. And probably the eradication of several major cities.
The secession option is cleaner, initially. But...I understand the resistance to that route. Because the new countries might very well end up like the US did.
