I coast to red lights, no reason to waste gas speeding to a stop.
Especially fun when someone is riding your ass to get to the red sooner. I really coast slowly then.
I go 65mph max, that's the most efficient for fuel I understand
I've read that 45-50 MPH (2000 RPM) is most efficient for an internal-combustion engine.
In traffic on the freeway, I match my speed as much as possible to the net rate that traffic is moving so I'm continuously moving forward. If everyone did that, there wouldn't be the same kind of traffic blockages, which are mostly caused by people speeding to a stop instead of matching the actual pace of traffic.
People speeding to a stop doesn't slow traffic, it just creates more variation in speed. The same number of cars will be passing any point on average whether they are moving continuously or accelerating then stopping.

Same thing. It creates a standing wave, which you experience as stop and go traffic.
The same number of cars will be passing any point on average whether they are moving continuously or accelerating then stopping.
That's not accurate.
I coast to red lights, no reason to waste gas speeding to a stop. I think people that speed to a stop are idiots. They don't get anywhere any faster by doing that.
Those are my favorite idiots. You're coasting to a red light that's about to change so you don't have to stop and some moron prick speeds around you, gets in front of you, and then has to slam on the brakes which makes you have to stop. If the idiot had more than one or two wrinkles in his prefrontal cortex he would have coasted with you and nobody would have had to hit their brakes, stop, or accelerate again.
I get where you're coming from but sometimes you just wanna go fast. Damn the MPG. Taking the sports car out on nice country roads that aren't main highways is an excellent Sunday.
